The world of fashion is one that I never wish to visit. I wish to live there instead. An outsider’s view is tainted by flashbulbs and glitter. On the inside you can see the industry without its makeup on…

It's been too long...

It's been so long since I've posted anything, but I'm swamped. Prom is right around the corner and I have been hurrying to finish dresses for my friends. I am so proud of my latest creation that I'm going to post some pics. It's made from 100% Silk with hand beaded details. It took forever and luckily it fits my friend perfectly and she loves it.

Another dress I've been working on is much simpler. Its a burgundy jersey with a deep v-neck and asymmetrical skirt. The wrap is hand knitted and beaded Noro Silk yarn.

They are gonna look amazing!

Summer Trends

I know spring isn't even here yet, but the fashion world is always two seasons ahead. I myself am already sewing up a storm so my summer wardrobe will be complete by the first day of April (just so I can stare at it wistfully till June). This season I'm predicting soft ruffles, bold shoes (platforms, florals, chic flats), high waisted pants/shorts/skirts, layered jewelry, chinos, "frumpy chic" tees and tanks. There are eight million new trends, but those are just the ones that have caught my attention these last few days.

J'Adore Sue Wong

So I am officially in love with Sue Wong dresses. She mixes flapper with modern to make amazing embellished dresses. These are great for formal where, or if you love to make a statement (like me) they can work for casual days with the right styling.

Check out these amazing looks for spring.

Whether your going to a glamorous gala, the prom, or a cocktail party, these dresses are amazing. Sue Wong is definitely a designer to add to your wish list.

Must Have Accessories

Bonjour Darlings!

I've been compiling my spring wardrobe shopping list and I though I'd give you all an update on what accessories I am seeing for spring 2011 (it is soooo hard to believe it's already 2011! Where has the time gone?)
Anyway, this season is all about vintage charm and dramatic flair. Check out T-strap heels, long feather earrings, saddle shoes, suspenders, and waist belts. Remember, fashion is about being who you are. The first thing people see when they meet you is what you wear and how you look, so make an impact. Its a new year and tomorrow is Valentine's Day! Be bold! Changing your life can be as easy as buying a new dress and changing your hair. Don't be afraid to take chances in all aspects of your life.

Love Ya,

This really has nothing to do with anything....

Hey Divas,
Even the most fabulous Park Avenue Princess needs to enjoy a good book every now and again, so for no particular reason I've decided to make a list of the top books I've read lately. I read a LOT (like, five to ten books a week) so I'm gonna limit this to the greatest.

1) Gramercy Park- Paula Cohen
2) Fall For Anything- Courtney Summers
3) The Fallen Novels- Lauren Kate
4) Wicked Lovely books- Melissa Marr
5) Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices- Cassandra Clare
6) A Song For Summer- Eva Ibbotson
7) Bergdorf Blondes- Plum Skyes
8) One Night Changes Everything- Lauren Barholdt
9) Something Like Fate- Susane Colasanti
10) Revolution- Jennifer Donnolly

Enjoy!

Vintage Treasures

There is a big difference between outdated and vintage. Incorporating vintage pieces into your wardrobe is a fashionistas secret weapon. First of all, a lot of vintage pieces are one of a kind so you can be sure that the snotty girl in the office down the hall won't be wearing the same Prada sunglasses as you again. Secondly, mixing vintage and modern pieces can give an outfit a special feel. If you can successfully mix a 1950's YSL dress with a pair of edgy heels and a leather jacket then you are a true fashionista. Here are some adorable pieces that you can incorporate in your wardrobe easily.

Be bold, be daring, but most importantly, be you!
Shop estate sales, thrift shops, and even your attic
You never know what you'll find

Spring Trend Report

Hello Darlings!

I have been searching stores, magazines, the web, and the streets to put together an all inclusive 2011 spring trend report. This season is shaping up to look a lot like last spring, but with a few twists. Last spring we were all about the pretty girl punk. Florals, leather, and lace--with a great detailed military jacket of course. This year we're still seeing lots of florals and lace, but a lot less shredding. Things are looking softer, more feminine, and I must say I am liking it. So here are what I believe will be this springs hottest looks, and after the winter we've had in Chicago I sure could use some heat!

1. Lace (feminine, yet edgy. Look for lighter colors like cream and ivory)
2. Long Dresses and Skirts (Floor length, go hippy chic or classy sweet)
3. One Shoulder (Sexy, yet sweet. Look for one shoulder day dresses to give your look an edge)
4. Stripes (any color, any thickness, any garment)
4. Florals (bold or soft, avoid sofa-like colors, but don't be afraid of a nice floral chiffon)
5. Patterned tights (Perfect to add to any dress or skirt look, watch for cream lace, bows, and argyle)
6. Rompers (One again, the one piece is in. Pair retro looking rompers with modern accessories)
7. Belt Purse (little leather belt with a little leather purse. the hand free clutch)
8. High Waisted Shorts (Prints, solids, sailor inspired or cutesie florals or dots. there's a pair for everyone)
9. Fuller Skirts (there's still a place for the pencil skirt, but volume is back)
10. Neutrals (a spring favorite, dont be afraid of cream, tan, light pink, and white)
11. Mixed prints (I know mama always said not to mix dots and stripes, but mixing prints is back and better than ever)
12. Tribal Prints (bold, African inspired prints are perfect for dresses and skirts)
13. Lingerie Inspired (Dresses and camis and gorgeous this spring in sultry cuts and smooth silks)
14. 1970's (lots of modern twists on 1970's jumpsuits, trousers, and dresses)
15. Sequins (It's everywhere people, don't ignore it. Sequins make evening wear so much fun)
16. Obi Belt (Asian inspired wrap belts are perfect for day or night, you can even make your own out of an old mens neck tie)
17. Metallics (We love gold this year, go bold and go shimmer)
18. Tights with Shorts (I'm not a big fan of this look on everyone, you have to have the right body and the right pair of shorts to pull this off)
19. Asymmetrical hems (longer in that back and shorter in the front, sexy and totally hot this season)

Hope this little list helps when you're picking out your spring wardrobe!
